COLONIAL THEATRE MOVIES JOEL HODGSON: RIFFING MYSELF – Saturday, Dec. 22, 8 p.m.-Joel Hodgson, creator of the Peabody Award-winning Mystery Science Theater 3000 will present his keynote address ‘Riffing Myself,’ in which Joel surveys his lifelong endeavors to entertain people in new and inventive ways, and how those endeavors, along with a host of diverse influences, led to the invention of the comedic art form of movie riffing. Also featured are photos, videos, documents and notebook pages from Joel’s personal collection illustrating some rarely seen projects and the creative process that helps brings them to fruition. A question and answer session will follow. After the presentation there will be a brief intermission followed by a screening of Mystery Science Theater 3000: Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
CHRISTMAS BAZAAR – Holy Ghost Orthodox Catholic Church, Bridge and Starr streets, Phoenixville will host its annual Christmas Bazaar, Saturday, Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items offered will include nut rolls, poppyseed rolls, apricot rolls, likvar, and kifli cookies, homemade breads, halupki, pirohi, haluski, chicken and vegetable soups, kobasi & kraut sandwiches and hot dogs, Christmas crafts; imported Russian items, money raffle and more.
EXHIBIT – The new special exhibit honors the lives of women in Phoenixville called ‘Dames: The Small Town Women Who Made Phoenixville’ will run through February 2013 at the Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area, 204 Church St., Phoenixville.
OPEN HOUSE – Schuylkill Valley Model Railroad Club will host its annual open house for people of all ages at 400 S. Main St. Phoenixville, PA 19460 (diagonally across from the Phoenixville Library; 2nd and Main streets). The open house will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday on the following weekends: Jan. 5 and 6; Jan. 12 and 13; Jan. 19 and 20. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. CONCERT – The 80 singers of The Chester County Choral Society, under the direction of Gary Garletts, present Sing Forth This Day, a collection of sacred and secular Christmas music for all ages on Saturday, Dec. 15, 7:30 p.m., in Church of the Holy Trinity, West Chester. The concert will be repeated on Sunday, Dec. 16, 3 p.m., in The Church of the Good Samaritan, Paoli. Ann Marie Ellis is accompanist for CCCS; she will be joined by the West Chester Brass Quintet.
