State Police reported a two car collision on Fleetwood Lyons Road in Richmond Township sent one driver to the hospital on Jan. 14.
At about 7:50 a.m., while driving west on the road near Deka Road, Valerie Rutherford, 33, of Kutztown, stopped in the roadway, yielding to eastbound traffic and intending to turn left onto Deka Road when a Freightliner Truck struck the rear bumper of Rutherford’s Kia Sorrento.
The Freightliner Truck, driven by Joshua Colon, 29, of Allentown, sustained moderate body and mechanical damage to the front end, and Rutherford’s Sorrento sustained heavy damage to the entire rear of the vehicle. Both vehicles came to a final rest in the westbound lane.
Previously, it was incorrectly printed, as according to the State Police report, that Colon was complaining of head and neck injuries and was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest by Fleetwood EMS.
The correct information is that Rutherford sustained minor injury, complaining of head and neck injuries. She was transported to Lehigh valley Hospital by Fleetwood EMS. Colon and his passenger were not injured. Colon was cited for careless driving.
